D-TEC wins 2nd prize at the International Trailer Awards

With the new Flexliner FL-3-S-Coil scrap tipper, trailer specialist D-TEC won 2nd prize at the International Trailer Award competition in the ‘Body’ category. The official prize will be awarded on September 19 during the IAA Transportation trade show in Hannover.

D-TEC's latest innovation to its existing Flexliner scrap tipper convinced the professional jury to award the prize. It’s not just any award; the jury consists of leading international trade journalists from various European, African, and American trade magazines. D-TEC Director Gerrit van Vlastuin is therefore delighted with this international recognition: "We can be proud of another distinctive D-TEC innovation!"

Coils as Return Cargo
D-TEC engineers have succeeded in making it technically possible to transport coils as return cargo without interrupting the chassis structure.

This was achieved through the ingenious placement of two wedge structures on the floor of the container, providing additional benefits: optimal torsional rigidity of the chassis, improved tipping stability, and maintained chassis strength. With this solution, D-TEC reduces the CO2 footprint and contributes to transport efficiency by allowing coils to be transported as return cargo after delivering scrap to steel plants.

Fewer Empty Loads and Safer
Good news for companies transporting scrap, says Carlo Aalberts, Product Manager at D-TEC: "They are always looking for the most optimal use of their vehicles by minimizing empty loads. This aligns nicely with D-TEC's goal of maximizing our customers' profits through innovations."

Another advantage for haulers is improved safety during tipping. "The scrap material gets stuck at the rear of the body less often compared to conventional solutions where the coil trough is still integrated into the floor."
